Significant leafy green yield increases
Jen has witnessed significant improvements in leafy green yields. The biggest was a 34% yield increase in a commercial lettuce crop. Throughout their use of ActivatedAir, the average has been 15%.
For Syan Farms, this translates to shorter growth cycles.
“One real benefit we’ve seen through using Zayndu technology is that you can shorten the growth cycle,” says Jen. “Knocking a couple of days off a short-cycle crop like a lettuce or brassica means you can add an extra cycle into a year.
Easily incorporated into growing processes
Syan Farms has found that the technology easily integrates into their activities. Seeds are treated using their ActivatedAir plasma seed priming system and then stored. These are then planted using Vertical Future’s automated seeing system, a technology that wouldn’t be usable if ActivatedAir weren’t a dry process.
“Totally unlike a wet treatment where you have to treat and immediately use the seeds because the seeds are imbibed and on their way, ActivatedAir treated seeds are primed, but the hydration is missing.
“Until you hydrate them, they are not starting to germinate yet.”
