Coriander (Cilantro) is a distinctive herb prized for its fresh, aromatic leaves. However, growing it in Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) presents unique challenges due to its sensitivity to environmental conditions, making it a tricky crop to optimise.
One major hurdle is bolting, where the plant prematurely flowers in response to temperature fluctuations or light stress, reducing yield and quality. Additionally, root health can be challenging in hydroponic systems, as coriander has a delicate root structure that is prone to disease if not carefully managed.
Maintaining consistent germination rates and achieving a strong, uniform canopy require fine-tuned environmental controls, efforts that can be significantly assisted by ActivatedAir plasma seed priming, as we will see.
Germination
What if there was a way to increase your coriander crop’s productivity without compromising taste or market specification?
Zayndu’s plant science team demonstrated the results our customers get by treating coriander seeds with ActivatedAir™. We then placed them alongside the same number of untreated seeds in pleated sheets.

Over the span of 10 days, we saw a 19% increase in germination with the ActivatedAir-treated seeds.
Yield
But does that lead to an increase in overall crop yield?
Similarly, we treated several cilantro seeds using ActivatedAir and planted them in soil alongside an untreated batch of seeds.

By day 11, we witnessed a much higher success rate in the ActivatedAir-treated cilantro.

And by day 19, the difference between non-treated and ActivatedAir-treated seeds couldn’t be any more apparent.

With nearly a 23% boost in yield, using Zayndu’s ActivatedAir means you get way more for your buck.
What does this mean?
Simply put, with a more productive crop cycle, your supply to supermarkets will increase. How’s that for keeping up?
